Planning for Ilkley's future PDF Print E-mail

The development of the Neighbourhood Plan for Ilkley has been delayed whilst the parish council awaits the release of “The Local Plan” for the area by Bradford MDC and is able to see the full extent of the proposals. This is now scheduled for March 2013.

In the meantime we have brought together 12 people from Ilkley whose cumulative experience in matters affecting the town has been proven over many years.  Working under the name “ILKLEY FUTURE GROUP” they have - since last September – been developing a series of recommendations for Ilkley over a wide range of issues which include:-

1          Housing and employment land

2          Business and employment

3          Transport and parking

4          Health

5          Education

6          Sport and leisure

7          Marketing and tourism

8          Design statement

9          Heritage

10        Environment

These recommendations  will be reviewed with the parish council during February  2013 and will contribute toward  future policy for Ilkley , provide a basis for future discussions with Bradford MDC and form the basis from which the final Neighbourhood Plan for Ilkley can be developed.

Developing the Neighbourhood Plan itself is a process which has statutory guidelines. These include provision for public contribution and consultation. As outlined above – planning is not due to start until March and Ilkley Parish Council will utilise local media to ensure that all residents are made aware of opportunities to contribute once the process commences.
